The East & West Branches of the DuPage River and Salt Creek are located in Northeastern Illinois, including portions of Cook, DuPage, and Will Counties.
In response to concerns about Total Maximum Daily Load reports developed by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for the East & West Branches of the DuPage River and Salt Creek, a local group of communities, Publicly Owned Treatment Works, and environmental organizations have come together to better determine the stressors to the aquatic systems through a long term water quality monitoring program and the development and implementation of viable projects to accurately address the stressors. The Conservation Foundation was a founding member of this organization. Staff member Jennifer Hammer chairs the Monitoring Committee and sits on the board of the Workgroup. The Conservation Foundation also provides contract staff to the Workgroup to coordinate efforts, manage grants and contracts and oversee projects.
