Celebrate spring on McDonald Farm! Enjoy a tour of our land, and stop by the bike path to help us seed our sunflower patch. Build seed balls, “spring fling” them into the field, learn how sunflowers help feed bees and birds, and even plant your own to take home. This is a family-friendly event, and friends are also welcome!
9:00 – 11:00am:
Sunflower Seed Ball Fling & Plant Your Own Sunflowers
Help us seed our sunflower patch on Knoch Knolls Road! Have a hand in seeding our spectacular sunflower patch by building seed balls and tossing them into the field, then be sure to visit the patch throughout the summer to watch them grow. You’ll also have the chance to learn more about how sunflowers help feed bees and birds, and even plant your own sunflower to bring home!
10:00 – 11:00am:
New Member Hike of McDonald Farm
We’re so glad you’ve joined the local conservation movement! We’d love a chance to meet you face-to-face (if we haven’t already!) and share a very special site that exemplifies the work we do to improve the health of our communities. Our headquarters, McDonald Farm, was a transformative gift for The Conservation Foundation, and also for Lenore McDonald herself. She found great peace in knowing her beloved farm would be protected from the developers who knocked daily at her door, and would be used to carry on the causes of agriculture, conservation and education that were dear to her heart. On this tour with Jim Kleinwachter, you’ll learn how we’ve used it to promote our mission of land stewardship and restoration, water conservation, green infrastructure, and more!
11:15am – 12:00pm:
