The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a National Day of Service that encourages people to volunteer and improve communities while honoring the legacy of Dr. King.
Please join us for our MLK Day of Service on January 22nd from 8:00am – 12:00pm. Volunteers will help the land at a stewardship workday by cutting and cleaning up brush at O’Hara Woods Preserve in Romeoville.
O’Hara Woods Preserve
1034 W 135th St
Romeoville, IL 60446
Coffee will be provided at the start of the day. Please bring a reusable mug for coffee (we will have some disposable cups but will try to reduce waste), water, and a snack for later. We recommend wearing layers of warm clothes that can get dirty, wool socks, sturdy winter boots, and winter hats. If you have work gloves, please bring them. Tools and training will be provided, and we will have some work gloves available too.
Please bring a mask for when social distancing is not possible, especially at the start and end of the workday.
Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at the end of Beverly J Griffin Drive on the east side of O’Hara Woods Preserve in Romeoville. Here is a map to the parking lot.
Please register before January 19th so we can plan for this special day of service! Register here for the MLK Day of Service with The Conservation Foundation.
