Join us for our Winter Membership & Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020, 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton.
Our speaker will be Shane McKenzie, Associate Research Scientist in the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation’s Wildlife Research Department, presenting “Close Encounters: Urban Wildlife & Human Interactions.” Shane will present his department’s fascinating research on urban coyotes, raccoons, deer fawn survival and river otter reintroductions in the region, and how we as humans can help our interactions with urban wildlife be positive ones. Particularly with coyotes, Shane and his colleagues’ research motivation stems from the conviction that by becoming aware of other species’ ecology, people can understand the difference between true threats and coexistence. Our relationships with urban wildlife are directly affected by our behavior. Animals living amongst us
react to us, and we can foster mutual respect through cues we send to them.
We will also be presenting the Paul Butler Memorial Award for exemplary volunteerism, and honoring retiring trustees. We hope you will join us to hear Shane, an engaging and knowledgeable speaker, and share time with others who care for our natural world.
Cost to attend the luncheon is $35/person for Members of The Conservation Foundation and $50/person for Non-Members. Businesses and organizations may purchase tables of 8 for $250/Member Organization and $375/Non-Member Organization.
To register via phone or email, please contact Cassi Pollowy at 630-428-4500, Ext. 153 or email her here.
