“Nature Pod” Fall Field Trips

Does school look a little different for your crew this fall?

Whether you’re remote learning, sending the kids in person or something in between, we want to help support you and your children with science and social enrichment in the safest place possible, the great outdoors!

“Nature Pod” Field Trips to the McDonald Farm are the perfect after-school meetup opportunity for your children to get some social time after a day of remote or in-person learning.
Or if you’re full-remote or homeschooling and want to build an outing into a school day, that’s wonderful too!

The Conservation Foundation’s McDonald Farm headquarters in south Naperville is an oasis in the suburbs that provides a unique place to explore nature and a working organic farm. Our experienced educators are prepared to provide your group with 90 minute themed lessons with nature as our classroom, and give some science and social time that may be lacking in this year’s revised learning models. All programs are multi-disciplinary and designed to align with national science standards with STEAM themes. Masks are required and materials are sanitized.

How It Works

STEP 1: Self-organize a group of children of similar ages and risk exposure as your “nature pod”.
STEP 2: Select a program. Programs are flexible but targeted to age groups such as Pre-K, Early Elementary (EE), Late Elementary (LE), and Junior High (JH).
STEP 3: Call us to schedule an experience that will support your child both intellectually and emotionally during this challenging time.

Programs are $100 for the first 10 students, and $10/ student above 10. If your learning pod has less than 10 people but you are willing to pay the $100 minimum to cover our costs, we welcome you. Scholarships are available for those that need assistance.

Schedule your “Nature Pod” visit to McDonald Farm today by calling Amy Phillips, Manager of Youth Education, at 630-428-4500, Ext. 113 or click here to email her.
