Bosch Community Fund Grants Support STEM and Environmental Education for More Than 11,000 Students in the Oak Brook Area

Bosch Community Fund is committed to empowering educators and students by providing critical resources that enhance learning and inspire innovation by supporting advancements in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and environmental education. These grants will foster transformative educational experiences, equipping teachers with the tools to deliver dynamic instruction while encouraging students to deepen their interest in STEM education topics through hands-on learning.

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana

This grant will advance STEM education for the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, focusing on expanding access to underrepresented communities. By reaching more students of color in Joliet and Chicago, the council aims to broaden opportunities for girls in STEM and scouting. This initiative will deliver inclusive, hands-on learning experiences designed to inspire and empower young girls to thrive in STEM fields.

Chicago Region Trees Initiative, a project of The Morton Arboretum

A grant has been awarded to help the Morton Arboretum empower future tree champions through its STEM Pathways program, which enhances environmental education in schools and supports tree planting efforts at learning centers via the Chicago Region Trees Initiative. By combining comprehensive educational programming with hands-on tree planting, the initiative inspires students to appreciate nature, value the environment, and recognize the positive impact of trees on communities.

The Conservation Foundation

The Fund is supporting the second phase of the Cultivating DuPage Eco-STEM Educators program, which aims to enhance teacher training in outdoor education and place-based environmental learning. The program will increase teachers’ ability to incorporate natural phenomena into lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and provide tools for play-based instruction.

Kids Matter

A grant will support the organization’s Springboard Series: Careers in STEM, now entering its third year with an expanded focus on biology, chemistry, environmental science, and physics career exploration. The program offered to high school students in Naperville districts #203 and #204 will provide students with valuable exposure to STEM careers and hands-on learning opportunities.

The Three Fires Council – Boy Scouts of America

Funding will support various programs designed for scouting groups and students with no prior scouting experience. These programs include a bee initiative focused on pollination, ecology, and conservation, a STEM maker space offering hands-on experiences, and a tree nursery to support conservation efforts for an aging tree population. These initiatives will provide valuable learning opportunities in environmental stewardship and STEM education.

Homewood Science Center

The Fund is supporting Green Lab Field Trips, expanding on a previous grant that established a high-quality eco+STEM program for families and students from young children to middle schoolers. Middle school students will gain hands-on experiences, including engineering problem-solving, constructing aquatic biodiversity models, water quality testing, and career interviews with engineers, policymakers, and environmental engineers.
