The explosive show of spring ephemerals (spring-blooming wildflowers) that is about to burst forth is what O’Hara Woods Nature Preserve in Romeoville is best known for. The Conservation Foundation partners with the landowner, The Village of Romeoville, to manage O’Hara Woods Nature Preserve and support a healthy and ecologically diverse woodland that dazzles year-round. Dedicated as an Illinois Nature Preserve, a status only bestowed upon the highest quality natural areas in the state, O’Hara Woods is cared for and monitored in large part by a devoted group of volunteer stewards, deemed the Friends of O’Hara Woods Nature Preserve. Come hear Sam Kilgore speak about the history and ecological management of O’Hara Woods, the importance of volunteer land stewardship, and how you can get involved during our second annual BioBlitz this April!
