Forest bathing (also called Forest Therapy) is based on the Japanese practice of Shirin-Yoku – an immersive experience in nature in which participants mindfully connect to the outdoors through their senses. Participants are invited to interact with nature through a series of prompts with opportunities to share and connect with other participants along the way. The experience ends with a tea ceremony. Research has shown that this type of outdoor reflective experience can reduce stress, boost immune functioning, and help foster a sense of connectedness and appreciation for nature.
Participants should come prepared for the weather and the experience can be adapted for most ability and mobility levels.
