We’re Going For Accreditation!

The Conservation Foundation is very pleased to announce that we are applying for accreditation through the Land Trust Alliance, which recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.

Professional accreditation is a mark of distinction, showing that a land conservation organization meets high standards for land conservation work.   It’s voluntary, but we feel the time is right for our organization to achieve this milestone.  Accreditation is a catalyst for improvement, which results in faster, better, stronger conservation; it strengthens both individual organizations and America’s land conservation movement.

As part of our process of working toward accreditation, a public comment period is now open, and we wanted to provide you with the opportunity and instructions for submitting a comment, if you desire.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. The Conservation Foundation has always upheld high standards of ethics in implementing our mission and in our governance and operations.   By applying for accreditation, we join land conservation organizations around the country that are united by strong ethical practices and a commitment to sound transactions and the stewardship of land and conservation easements.

The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how The Conservation Foundation complies with national quality standards. These standards address both ethical and technical operations. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.

To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org, or email your comment to [email protected]. Comments may also be faxed or mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments: (fax) 518-587-3183; (mail) 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Comments on The Conservation Foundation’s application will be most useful by October 28th, 2018.

Thank you so much for your loyal support!  This will only make us stronger.
