Sometimes a little rain still must fall. October did not bring us much rain at McDonald Farm, but the one day it did we had a big volunteer day planned. Did that stop us? Of course not. After a little bit of schedule reorganizing with the Chervon Corporate Team, we pivoted, and made it a beautiful afternoon of restoration, garden clean-up, and team-building.
Chervon manufactures EGO Products and they wanted to bring some of their equipment to the farm to use during our volunteer event. The skies cleared, brush saws whirred, string cutters whipped, and Mega-mowers plowed. The EGO tools all made for much lighter work on some heavy brush clearing and habitat restoration. Chervon’s slogan “Better Tools, Better World” made a true impact. The Chervon volunteers jumped right in and worked tirelessly, until the The Conservation Foundation Volunteer Coordinator had to finally pull them away from their work. “Hey, this is fun! Is there anything else we can do?”
The Conservation Foundation and Chervon have started a wonderful new partnership. The Conservation Foundation staff shared networks and connections that can help Chervon. Chervon shared other ways they can partner at The Conservation Foundation volunteer events, and maybe even some EGO equipment testing at our sites. What started as just a corporate volunteer event, turned into the beginning of a true community partnership. Win/Win. Thank you to the Chervon Volunteer Team for their time and talents. And a big thank you for all the new EGO equipment donated. They will greatly help with farm, restoration, and garden work in our community.
